October 24th – QGIS Training

Geospatial consultancy Geo Smart Decisions is offering one-day training in QGIS based in the Forestry Hub, Machynlleth. The purpose of this training day is to introduce Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to new users, in a small group setting with two instructors in a way that participants leave feeling much more confident about their knowledge of the free tools that are available and how to use them in their own setting.

When: Tuesday 24th October

Where: Forestry Hub, Unit 6, Machynlleth, SY20 8AX

Timings: 9.30 – 4pm

Lunch: Provided (please let us know of dietary requirements)

The workshop will equip participants in the public sector and non-profit woodland organisations with the skills required to search for available spatial data, to use it within the freely available GIS software called QGIS, to analyse it using simple geoprocessing tools, to explore different ways to view the data and to export these as maps to use elsewhere or send to colleagues. Time will be given to explore the tools and data that are available in a self-paced manner with instructors to guide the participants and set challenges and create learning opportunities along the way.

It is anticipated that this will be a very popular workshop and it is advised that you please register your interest asap. A waiting list will be created once this course is full and an additional day will be set aside before the end of year should there be enough interest.
